Why did we launch the Towsontown Torch?
Recognizing that Towson had gone too long without a voice of its own — especially after larger media companies bought and dismantled the local outlets that once served the community — The Towsontown Torch was launched to fill that void. We saw how these big media companies prioritized sensational, polarizing stories designed to provoke outrage and drive clicks, while ignoring the everyday realities of Towson life. They didn’t have the presence, access, or commitment to consistently cover our community’s full story — both the challenges and the successes. In response, we created a platform dedicated to telling Towson’s whole story, giving our community back the voice it deserves
