OUR SPEAKERS

University of Maryland Baltimore County
We're beyond excited to welcome speaker Anupam Joshi, Oros Family Professor and Vice Provost and Chief AI Officer at UMBC. He also serves as the Director of UMBC’s Cybersecurity Institute.
He was previously the Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and IT, and Chair of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Department. He is an Adjunct Professor at IIT Delhi's School of IT, and Affiliate Professor in UMBC's School of Aging and UMB's School of Medicine.
He has published over 300 technical papers with an h-index of 98 and over 34000 citations (per Google scholar), been granted nine patents, and has obtained research support over $22M from National Science Foundation (NSF), NASA, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), US Dept of Defense (DoD), NIST, IBM, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin amongst others. He did some of the earliest work in data management and security for mobile and ad-hoc networks using AI approaches, which was cited in his selection as a Fellow of IEEE.
Over the last decade, Dr. Joshi has been exploring this intersection to improve Cybersecurity -- using Distributed AI approaches for attack detection and resilience in CPS/IoT systems, and policy driven approaches to security and privacy.
GBMC Healthcare
Also speaking at March’s AI+Workforce Development Summit will be Chief Marketing Officer at GBMC HealthCare, where he leads marketing, communications, and external affairs.
A member of GBMC's AI Governance Committee, Greg has been instrumental in driving the organization's adoption of AI tools including Microsoft Copilot and DAX Copilot. It’s the kind of work that lives between “this technology is amazing” and “but will it actually work here?” He is currently pursuing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence at Capitol Technology University and holds a Master of Science in AI from Purdue University, along with AI certifications from MIT, IBM, Vanderbilt, and the Michigan Ross School of Business.
Greg speaks regularly on the intersection of AI, marketing, and communications. His AI interest isn’t in hype. It’s in what actually works, especially in healthcare, where the stakes are real.
Shaffer has co-created three books with AI as a creative partner (one published), produced two music albums with generative tools, and is always experimenting with what’s possible.
