[Towson, MD]- Baltimore County Public Library joins libraries across the country in celebrating National Library Week, which runs Sunday, April 19, through Saturday, April 25. As a community connector, the library is looking forward to highlighting the value of this public service and the many benefits of a library card.
This year's American Library Association National Library Week theme is “Find Your Joy,” which is an invitation for people of all backgrounds to explore and discover what sparks joy in them at the library. In celebration, Baltimore County Public Library is revealing a new “B” logo, B Joyful!
The library invites the community to celebrate alongside staff, with a different highlight each day of the week: Monday—The Right to Read Day, Tuesday—National Library Workers Day, Wednesday—National Library Outreach Day and Thursday—Take Action for Libraries Day. Customers are encouraged to visit their home branch and grab a B Joyful magnet to show off their library pride. While there, they can browse their favorite titles or discover new ones and thank a staff member.
"On National Library Workers Day, we honor our staff, whose passion and dedication help others discover joy in all its forms," said Erin Baker, Chief Public Services Officer. "Our commitment to providing opportunities to explore, learn, create and connect is powered by our people. Their creativity, kindness and enthusiasm turn everyday interactions into moments of joy and make our libraries a vibrant and welcoming space for all."
Other ways to take part in National Library Week include signing up for a library cardin person or online, attending a program, checking out materials from the collection and contacting your county council member to show your support for the $58 million dollar bond funding to build the Essex Branch, announced in Thursday's annual budget message. The library also encourages the community to follow its social media channels and download this image to use as their temporary profile picture to raise awareness and support for the library. Baltimore County Public Library encourages customers to "Be All In" with us to celebrate National Library Week.
