In an increasingly digital world, a physical library card remains one of the most valuable resources available to the Towson community. At Baltimore County Public Library, a single card provides access to more than books—connecting customers with technology, entertainment, and educational resources at no cost to them.
Cardholders can check out up to 100 items at a time and access a wide range of resources, including a full streaming suite of movies, music and television shows; newspapers and magazines; hotspots and musical instruments through the library's
Library of Things collection;
and continuing education through LinkedIn Learning and Mango Languages. The card also provides opportunities to participate in reading challenges, like B Well-Read Bingo happening in September and October.
For Baltimore County residents who don't yet have a library card, September offers an
additional reason to sign up. As a part of Library Card Sign-up Month, new cardholders can receive a voucher for one free 8-inch pizza from any Ledo Pizza Baltimore County location, while supplies last.
Residents can register at the service desk at their local branch or complete a library card registration form in advance for a quick and easy visit. But the library card is only the beginning of what Baltimore County Public Library has planned for the fall.
Enter to Win
Anyone who visits the Towson Branch, or any of the library's 18 open locations through
Wednesday, September 30, and borrows a physical item will be entered to win a family four- pack of tickets to Disney on Ice at CFG Bank Arena for either Thursday, October 15, at 7 p.m. or
Saturday, October 17, at 2:30 p.m. Winners will be notified via email on Friday, October 2, and will be able to pick up their prize at their home branch.
Sunday Hours Return
Sunday hours return to seven Baltimore County Public Library branches beginning Sunday, September 13, from 1 to 5 p.m. Customers can browse and check out materials, use computers, reserve meeting and study rooms, print, copy and fax and attend select programs. The Sunday schedule runs annually from the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend, providing residents with another opportunity to access library services outside
the traditional weekday and Saturday schedules.
Sunday service is available at the Arbutus, Cockeysville, North Point, Perry Hall, Pikesville, Reisterstown and Towson branches. The North Point Branch is currently closed through November 9 because of an ongoing HVAC project.
The return of Sunday hours also brings a special series of family events. From 2 to 3 p.m. on select Sundays, families can meet a costumed storybook character and enjoy free treats, while supplies last.
Curious George will visit the Towson Branch on Sunday, October 4, where families can take a picture with the monkey and participate in donut decorating. The full schedule is as follows.
