(Towson, MD) 3/1/26
Charles Village Pub & Patio, known as CVP, opened in uptown Towson in 1985 as a spin‑off of the original Charles Village Pub founded in Baltimore in 1981. Over the decades it evolved into a signature gathering spot for Towson University students, alumni, faculty, and locals, especially after games and campus events. In 1999, former TU athletes Rick Bielski, Eric Wagner, and Melony Wagner, who had all worked at the bar, purchased the Towson location and continued to grow it as a neighborhood landmark. Despite challenges including a major fire and the COVID‑19 pandemic, CVP has remained a resilient, community‑oriented institution.
For decades, CVP has served as an informal extension of downtown Towson’s business district, hosting countless lunches, happy hours, and networking events for attorneys, real estate professionals, and local entrepreneurs who work near the Towson courthouse and government offices. Its walkable location off Pennsylvania Avenue makes it a natural spot for post‑hearing debriefs, client meetings, and civic gatherings, helping weave together Towson’s legal, civic, and small‑business communities in a relaxed, familiar setting.
In keeping with this tradition, CVP is proud to partner with the Towson Torch to sponsor the Towson Growth Summit on Workforce Development, supporting collaboration across Towson’s business and civic community.
