The idea for this event took shape in 2022, inspired by an Elks member and veteran familiar with the challenges of returning from active duty. The first event followed in February 2023.
According to the lodge, Wine and Dine for Warriors has netted nearly $100,000 for veterans’ organizations and programs. Past beneficiaries have included Operation Second Chance, Platoon 22, Wellspring of Life Farm, Hero Dogs and the Nicholas Ziolkowski Memorial Scholarship at Towson University. That history gives this evening out a record of doing good well beyond the dance floor.
Some Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. Who is the beneficiary of this fundraiser?
A. Hero Dogs is the sole beneficiary for 2027. The nonprofit trains and places service dogs with military veterans and first responders with disabilities.
Organizers say money from the 2025 event helped fund training for two puppies intended to become service dogs for two veterans. The goal this time is to help more local heroes receive that support.

Q. Can non-Elks members attend?
A. YES! This event is open to the public and you do not need to be an Elks member to purchase a ticket and attend.
Q. Who are the Elks?
A. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is a fraternal service organization. Towson’s Lodge #469 dates to 1899 and supports veterans, young people and families through charitable giving, scholarships and volunteer work.
Its separate nonprofit Charity Fund, established in 2005, expanded that work. For anyone who knows the lodge primarily as a gathering place on Pennsylvania Avenue, this is a chance to see its community mission in action.
Q. What does it cost, and what’s included?
A. Early-bird tickets, available until December 15, cost $70 per person or $130 per couple. Regular prices are $80 and $150, respectively.
Admission includes a buffet dinner, dessert, domestic beer, wine, rail drinks and live music from Weird Science, plus access to silent and chance auctions and raffles.
Q. Where do I park?
A. The Towson Square Garage at 505 Virginia Avenue, beneath Cinemark, is conveniently located directly behind The Recher. Bring your parking ticket inside: The Recher currently advertises a $2 rate for four hours with validation. Ask event staff whether that discount applies to Wine and Dine for Warriors
Q. How else can I help?
A. Organizers welcome sponsors, silent-auction donations and event volunteers. Sponsorships range from $500 to $5,000, and the ticket page also accepts additional donations.
Whether you bring friends, contribute an auction item or lend a hand, the appeal is simple: enjoy an evening together while helping fund a lasting difference.
Don’t miss it!
