TOWSON AREA NEWS

🍸 ⚡️ Towson University alum, receives a patent for a vodka containing electrolytes

A Baltimore metro-based vodka company specializing in premium, gluten-free spirits infused with electrolytes, announced Tuesday via a news release that it has secured a U.S. patent for its innovative electrolyte-enhanced vodka and proprietary production process. Lytos, which launched in November 2020 and was founded by Towson graduate Billy Fanshawe, specializes in gluten-free spirits and offers alternatives to common drinks found in bars, restaurants and liquor stores in the DMV.
This milestone officially makes Lytos the first vodka brand to successfully infuse added electrolytes into spirits while securing its proprietary production process.

🚀 Towson’s Mid-Atlantic Properties is bullish on Towson,
Sees “skyrocketing” interest in co-working spaces near the Courthouse.

This week we caught up with Reilly Wilson, Leasing Associate with Towson based Mid-Atlantic Properties who told us about the popularity of their Towson co-working space, One Office, located at 210 W. Pennsylvania Avenue. One Office is directly across Pennsylvania from the Circuit Court for Baltimore County which makes it extremely convenient and attractive for lawyers and law firms looking to set up shop across the street with flexible, short term leases and other amenities.

According to Wilson, they offer private office rentals, open co-working stations, and conference room rentals as well. “The co-working fits well into our portfolio with small offices and short-term leases. We have a daily office manager who helps assist with mail, deliveries, restocking the kitchen with refreshments, and any IT help for the office.”
After taking over the agreement from a previous third-party group in October, Wilson said interest in the space has “skyrocketed and made us think about more locations throughout Towson and Timonium/Cockeysville”. Check out One Office Co-Working on the Mid-Atlantic Properties website

Remember the “Jewish Jordan”?
Ex-Towson Hooper, Tamir Goodman Promotes Children’s Book about overcoming struggles with dyslexia.

Tamir Goodman recently in New York City

After playing basketball for the Talmudical Academy of Baltimore in 11th grade, Tamir Goodman was ranked the 25th-best high school player in the country, with an average of 35.4 points per game.

Goodman received a scholarship offer to the University of Maryland, which had one of the top-ranked basketball teams in the country. The team's schedule included activities on Friday nights and Saturdays (against the rules of Orthodox Judaism). Maryland's coaching staff and Tamir had friction over his refusal to play on the Sabbath, so he declined Maryland's offer.

Instead, Goodman accepted a scholarship from nearby Towson University. Goodman was the first freshman to start at Towson in eleven seasons. He averaged 6 points, 4 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game in his freshman year in 2000–2001, and was awarded the coach's award for his performance on the court and in the classroom. Goodman continued at Towson for his sophomore campaign until December 2001, and then played professionally overseas in Israel.

Still very involved with basketball and mentoring children, Goodman hopes his new children’s book, which is produced and published by PJ Library and focuses on how he overcame his struggles with dyslexia, will help the next generation do the same. “I feel like once the kids read this book, they could hopefully have the tools to feel empowered,” he said.
