If you like your music with a little attitude, a lot of emotion and something to say, make room on your calendar for November 10.

Singer-songwriter Lee Emi is bringing her DESTROY EVERYTHING tour to The Recher, giving Towson music fans a chance to catch an experienced performer at the beginning of a new chapter.

Born in South Korea and raised in Michigan, Emi is known to fans of The Crane Wives as Emilee Petersmark, a principal songwriter, guitarist and co-lead vocalist who helped shape the band’s sound over the past 15 years.

With rich harmonies, emotionally charged lyrics and an adventurous blend of folk and rock, The Crane Wives built a devoted following well beyond their Michigan roots. Their résumé includes winning JBL’s national Best American Band competition in 2017 and earning NPR recognition for “High Horse” among its favorite Tiny Desk Contest entries. In 2025, Beyond Beyond Beyond won Album of the Year at WYCE’s Jammie Awards, where the band also earned Critics’ Choice Artist of the Year.

Now, Emi is giving listeners another side of her songwriting.

Her debut solo album, DESTROY EVERYTHING, released October 2, blends indie rock, pop and folk influences while exploring anger, grief, self-doubt and the complicated business of figuring out who you are. Written through pandemic isolation and a search for belonging as a Korean adoptee raised in Michigan, the record pairs difficult questions with the possibility of rebuilding.

Think thoughtful songwriting with a rebellious streak.

Despite its scorched-earth title, the album’s underlying idea is hopeful: sometimes, letting go of what no longer serves you creates room for something better. That emotional honesty gives longtime Crane Wives fans a reason to listen—and newcomers a place to start.

After years of performing across the United States and Europe, Emi brings plenty of stage experience to this solo outing. For Towson listeners, it’s an opportunity to discover her new music close to home, with indie-pop-rock duo Cal in Red joining the bill.
