TOWSON, Md. — Organic food lovers in Towson will soon have another reason to head down York Road. MOM’s Organic Market is planning a new location at Gittings Marketplace, 6300 York Road, with an anticipated opening in spring 2027.
The new store will occupy approximately 14,690 square feet in a former Rite Aid location, bringing the Maryland-founded grocery chain’s selection of organic produce, natural foods and environmentally friendly products to the area.
While the shopping center is technically located in Baltimore City, just south of the Baltimore County line, the new market will be a convenient addition for shoppers from Towson, Rodgers Forge, Stoneleigh and surrounding neighborhoods.
A Grocery Store With a Mission
Founded in 1987, MOM’s Organic Market has grown from a small Maryland business into a regional grocery chain known for its commitment to healthy food and environmental sustainability.
The company’s mission, “Protect and Restore the Environment,” guides everything from the products it stocks to its sustainability initiatives.
Shoppers can expect certified organic produce, natural and organic groceries, specialty foods and household products selected with an emphasis on health and environmental responsibility.
MOM’s has also distinguished itself from traditional supermarkets through its environmental advocacy and efforts to reduce waste.
York Road’s Grocery Scene Is Getting Interesting
The MOM’s announcement comes as another popular grocery chain, Trader Joe’s, is also planning a location directly across York Road at 6311 York Road.
That means this stretch of York Road could soon become a destination for shoppers looking for specialty groceries, organic foods and alternatives to conventional supermarkets.
For nearby residents, the addition of two recognizable grocery brands represents a welcome investment in the York Road commercial corridor and could bring additional foot traffic to neighboring businesses.
When Will MOM’s Open?
The new MOM’s Organic Market is expected to open in spring 2027, although an exact grand opening date has not yet been announced.
Planned store hours are:
Monday–Saturday: 9 a.m.–9 p.m.
Sunday: 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
With MOM’s and Trader Joe’s preparing to join the neighborhood, York Road’s grocery options are about to get a whole lot more interesting.
And for Towson residents who appreciate fresh food and convenient shopping, that’s some pretty good news.
