For Immediate Release
Towson, MD - Emilia Nieman has been named Estate Jewelry Buyer and Manager for Nelson Coleman Companies’ portfolio of five locations across Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Nelson Coleman Companies, the ninth-oldest jewelry business in America, is the parent company of Nelson Coleman Jewelers, with three locations in Maryland, Bechdel Jewelers in West Virginia, and Jewelry By Designs in Virginia.
In her expanded role, Nieman will oversee all estate jewelry buying, curation, and department operations, responsibilities previously held by Mark Coleman, who is retiring after 50 years of service to the family business. A beloved figure among customers and colleagues, Coleman shaped the company's estate jewelry reputation through decades of relationship-building and expertise. Nelson Coleman Companies, which has been led by owner Amanda Coleman-Phelps for more than a decade, continues to operate all five of its locations and invest in the future of the business.

"Mark built something really special with our estate jewelry program over the past five decades, and finding the right person to carry that forward was important to our family," said Amanda Coleman-Phelps, sixth-generation owner of Nelson Coleman Companies. "Emilia has earned the trust of our customers and our team. She has an incredible eye, a real passion for the stories behind estate pieces, and the kind of warmth that makes people feel comfortable during what can be a very personal process. We're not just maintaining what Mark built. We're growing it, and Emilia is the right person to lead that growth."
Nieman has served in the estate jewelry department for over three years, building lasting customer relationships, providing expert valuation, and sourcing pre-owned fine jewelry and watches. Before joining Nelson Coleman Companies, she spent five years as an independent antique jewelry dealer, which deepened her fluency in period pieces, provenance, and the discerning clients who seek them. Her promotion reflects both her proven track record and Nelson Coleman Companies' commitment to growing its estate jewelry program, one of the most distinctive offerings across its brands.
"Every jewel that comes to us has its story, and it is our greatest pleasure to offer them to our clients to write the next chapter in a piece's story. There is something truly magical in seeing jewelry matchmaking happen and the joy they bring to their next caretakers. I'm grateful to Mark for the foundation he built, and I'm excited to bring our estate jewelry program to even more customers across all five locations," states Nieman.
Nieman's appointment is part of a broader investment by Nelson Coleman Companies in its team and operations as the business enters its 170th year. The company has continued to expand its community presence through the Chris Coleman Community Commitment program, as well as its growing digital and e-commerce platforms.
