The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) today announced that Robin Luxon, RN, BSN, MBA, FACHE, has been named President of the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center (UM SJMC), a member organization of UMMS
Luxon has served as interim president over the past eight months, leading the organization through a period of continued strength and forward momentum. During that time, she helped advance key strategic priorities while reinforcing the organization’s long-standing commitment to high-quality, compassionate care.
Prior to her interim role, Luxon served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Clinical Integration at UM SJMC, where she played a central role in aligning planning and operations with systemwide strategic priorities, expanding access to care and strengthening partnerships across clinical teams and affiliated organizations. In her new role, Luxon will continue to focus on advancing patient safety, strengthening system integration, and expanding access to specialty services to meet the evolving needs of the communities served by the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center.
“Robin has demonstrated exceptional leadership during her time as interim president, guiding the organization with clarity, focus and a deep commitment to both our patients and our team members,” said Thomas B. Smyth, MD, Executive Vice President, Community Health Division at UMMS. “Her ability to align strategy, operations and clinical care will be critical as we continue to build a safer, more integrated and stronger organization that expands access to the services our community needs most.”
Luxon’s appointment reflects the depth of leadership talent within UMMS and the organization’s continued focus on developing and advancing leaders from within.
“It is an honor to serve as President of the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center,” said Luxon. “Every day, I am inspired by the compassion, dedication and excellence our providers and team members bring to the care of our patients and community. I am extremely proud of the work our team does to deliver high-quality care, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue this important work in partnership with our caregivers, physicians and community to advance our mission and expand access to the services our patients need."
