Baltimore, MD (6/10/26) --- The Arc Baltimore has named eight new members to its Board of Directors.

Elected during the organization’s recent Catalysts for Change Awards event, the new Directors are:

  • Shannon Byrne, Senior Associate at Venable LLP, specializing in real estate transactions involving the acquisition, financing, leasing, and disposition of commercial properties, as well as a coach with the Special Olympics of Maryland;

  • Timothy McDermond, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mast Labs, LLC, where he leads a surgical training and bio skills organization serving healthcare and medical device partners;

  • David Mervis, Staff Attorney with Project HEAL at Kennedy Kreiger Institute, who brings extensive experience with SSI, SSDI, ABLE accounts, and other federal and state benefit programs, as well as disability policy;  

  • Ryan S. Perlin, Co-Founder and Partner of Malarkey Perlin, LLC, a boutique plaintiffs’ trial firm representing individuals and families in complex personal injury and medical malpractice cases;

  • Philippe Pradel, Deputy General Counsel at Campbell & Company, who brings extensive experience in securities regulation and governance, including prior leadership roles in impact investing;

  • Stacey Smith, Workplace Banking Relationship Manager with Fulton Bank, who has experience on several boards and volunteer engagements;

  • Dareth Wallace, Assistant Vice President of Financial Aid Compliance, Fraud Prevention, and Training at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where she oversees compliance and fraud prevention programs in highly regulated environments; and

     

  • Dan Zohorsky, Vice President, Corporate Development & Managing Partner, Healthworx at CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield, who brings a wealth of knowledge across strategic domains and a passion for reaching underserved populations in meaningful ways.   

“Each of these individuals possesses a wide range of personal and professional experience which will help The Arc Baltimore’s Board of Directors better deal with both the challenges and opportunities that are likely to present themselves in the year ahead,” says Kathleen McNally Durkin, The Arc’s Chief Executive Officer. “Their hard work, and that of so many others, is at the very heart of The Arc’s vision for people with developmental disabilities to live independently, work in meaningful jobs, and enjoy friendships and activities in the community.”

In addition to the election of new Directors, The Arc Baltimore’s Catalyst for Change Awards featured recognitions for two dozen individuals who have gone that extra mile in their service to the organization and those people with developmental disabilities who are recipients of The Arc’s programs and services.

Since 1949, The Arc Baltimore has supported people with developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling lives with a sense of belonging, purpose, and meaningful relationships. The Arc’s vision is a world where all people are valued, their voices are heard, and their impact is felt.
