Towson's Red Pepper Bistro Sponsors Can't Miss Charity Concert at Recher Theater

TOWSON - 5/13/2025 - On June 4, Towson’s Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro will host their second annual benefit concert at the Recher Theatre. This year’s concert, “Broadway Dreams, Nashville Nights… And Vegas Lights”, will be an exciting road trip through America’s music landscape.

Concert proceeds will support the Andrea’s Wish Foundation. The Foundation is a Towson-based charity with a statewide focus that funds critical medical and social services for the countless women facing the health challenge of postpartum depression. Towson community leader, Kyra Vocci, created the Foundation to celebrate the life and memory of her beloved sister.

This year’s concert has strong ties to Towson. Red Pepper’s supporting sponsorship team comprises several entrepreneurs and community groups based in Towson. This year, Triple Crown Tattoo, Towson’s Coffee Talk Café, Hampton Inn by Hilton (Towson location), and the communities of Greenbrier and Historic East Towson join Red Pepper in putting on this event.

Headlining the night’s entertainment is George Thomas’s Ultimate Elvis Tribute. With the recent 2024 release of the Netflix documentary, “The Fall And Rise Of Elvis Presley,” and the award-winning 2022 film, “Elvis”, there has been a surge of interest in Presley’s journey to become America’s first and greatest rock icon. Thomas has performed for audiences in Asia and South America. Early in his career, Thomas was the opening act for Good Charlotte’s Central American dates. Thomas’s onstage portrayal of the King was so convincing that NBC asked him to play the role of an Elvis tribute performer in the hit series, “Las Vegas.”

Joining Thomas on the night’s entertainment card are two Towson-based performers:

Mia Ye

Mia Ye is a junior at Towson High School, having won numerous national and international vocal competitions. On multiple occasions, she competed onstage at New York City’s famous Carnegie Hall. In 2024, she was invited to participate in the Summer Session at ULCLA’s esteemed Herb Alpert School of Intensive Voice. This is Ms. Ye’s return engagement to the Recher. Last year, she was one of the female performers showcased in “The Ladies Of Jazz: The Next Generation.”

Just South of Reckless

Just South of Reckless is a Towson-based acoustic country duet featuring lead vocalist Janet Herbert. In 2021, Janet was invited by blues legend Mark “Muleman” Massey to travel to the Mississippi Delta to cut her debut CD with several Grammy-winning musicians. Two years later, she returned to the delta to record her first original song at the famous Wishbone Studios in Muscle Shoals. Over the past year, Just South of Reckless has been wowing fans of Raitt, Ronstadt, and Crow with spot-on covers of their favorite hits.
