Towson Square’s Challenges Explained: Separating Fact from Fiction on Restaurant Closures

It’s complicated
Recent coverage by Maria Morales of WMAR-2 News in Baltimore spotlighted the wave of restaurant closures at Towson Square, the entertainment complex anchored by Cinemark theaters. In her report, Morales walked viewers through the empty parking lot, describing Towson Square as a “virtual ghost town,” with only the movie theater and one restaurant—Nando’s—remaining open, and even that slated to close soon. The story, like many recent media reports, quickly fueled online speculation that rising crime is to blame for the decline. We decided its time to tell the whole story, using real data to
help people understand the real reason for these closures - Read the article

How to be brave
Dear Sarah,
I’m a 39-year-old woman who just got asked to represent my team at an out-of-state conference. It’s a big deal. I should feel honored. But, really, I’m paralyzed. And I realize I’ve been in a bit of a rut lately, I think I’ve been playing it safe in work and life. This opportunity could be the shake-up I need, but part of me wants to crawl back into my comfort zone and say no. How do I convince myself to be brave enough to say yes, even when I’m scared?
Signed,
Comfort Zone Queen Trying to Escape

🏀 Towson Men’s Basketball to Face Kansas on December 16
Towson first played Kansas in November 2006 then returned in Skerry's first game as Towson head coach (November 11, 2011) and again two seasons later. Five of the 13 non-conference games for the 2025-26 have now been announced.
Skerry's squad will open the season versus Loyola (Md.) at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore on November 3 and play three games between November 24-26 in the Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational near Orlando.
Coming off its first outright Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) regular season title, Towson returns its top two players in CAA Player of the Year Tyler Tejada and Dylan Williamson, who earned Second Team all-conference honors. The Tigers have won at least 20 games in four consecutive seasons and have an impressive 44-18 record in league play since the 2021-22 season. - Read More
