Marylanders lost over $200 million to online scams in 2024 alone
Elderly residents in Maryland are increasingly vulnerable to a wide range of online scams designed to steal their money and personal information. As this population often has significant savings or pensions and may be less familiar with rapidly evolving technology, scammers have intensified efforts to exploit them. In 2024 alone, Maryland recorded over 40,000 fraud reports with losses exceeding $200 million, and adults over 60 have borne a disproportionate share of these losses, including average individual losses of around $83,000. Learn about the specific types of scams to watch out for and other tips on how to you or your senior female members can avoid being scammed.

Towson Entrepreneur To Open 4th Restaurant
Madame Ping Wu, founder Towson's Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro, announced that the soft opening of her new Silver Spring Sichuan Bistro will take place on September 28th. A formal ribbon-cutting date has not been announced. The new restaurant is her fourth food venture in the highly competitive and demanding Baltimore/Washington corridor. The new Silver Spring Sichuan Bistro will bring authentic Sichuan cuisine, prepared in the classic Chengdu style, to DC's suburban neighborhoods.
